My Top 5 Make Up Artist Skincare And Make Up Tips For Pregnant Women Or New Yummy Mums

While most preganant women skin glows it can also become blotchy, prone to blemishes or tight dry patches.
Changing your skincare routine can help with the above concerns by identifying your skin type and switching to an oil free or a richer moisturiser. You should start to see results in the first week.

As a Make up Artist in Manchester I have created make up looks for many pregnant women and new mums over the years so here are my top 5 make up hints and tips;

  1. You may see dark pigmentation spots in small areas start to appear on your face. Concealor will hide them, apply it with a brush underneath your foundation to ensure the coverage is precise and even. Disquise dark circles with a light relecting concealor, (lighter than your foundation). Dab it in the darkest part, the corner of your eyes. Apply foundation over the top in the areas where you feel you need extra coverage, usually nose, cheeks and chin.
  2. If your skin is dry use a highlighter to brighten your skin on your cheek bones or mix with your foundation to add radiance all over your face
  3. You may notice your eyelashes look sparse so go for a conditioning mascara. Place the wand at the root of your eyelashes to create volume and zig zag for maximum lenght
  4. Blusher is the quickest and most effective way to instantly add colour and achieve a fresh faced look. Cream blushers are natural and look really gorgeous. Place a small amount onto the apples of your cheeks with your fingers and blend away with your thumb so there are no obvious lines
  5. Finish with a sheer lipstick to add shine and a touch of warmth to your lips

Remember to drink plenty of water to ensure your skin doesn’t become dehydrated, try to get eight hours sleep and use a gentle exfoliator once a week! x

Celebrity Caught Shoplifting Make Up In London

Peaches Geldof (Sir Bob Geldof’s daughter) was stopped on Friday leaving Boots with £60 worth of unpaid make up in her pockets and shopping bags. The make up stash from L’oreal and Rimmel, included mascara, foundation and eyeliner. She must of ran out of all her essential items in her make up bag. Shes a gorgeous girl and her make up always looks lovely, why did she think she could have the cosmetics for nothing?

After being taken to a private area of the store, she handed over the make up and was banned from the store. It was reported many customers felt the police should have been called. She isn’t the first celebrity to be caught shoplifting, most famously Hollywood actress Winona Ryder stole from Saks in 2001.

Top 5 Make Up Tips To Transform Yourself Into A Corpse Bride This Halloween!

Halloween is coming up and apart from during wedding season it’s the best time to be a make up artist in Manchester. I love creating gastly ghosts, gruesome ghouls and weird witchy make up looks for my clients. The corpse bride is my favourite character, it’s reasonable cheap to create, so here’s my top 5 tips to transform yourself!

  1. First use a face primer to smooth out your skin, this will ensure your make up stays on all evening
  2. You will need a white face paint, apply it with a damp sponge starting from the nose, work outwards
  3. Go for it with dramatic eye make up using a black eye shadow, sweep across your eyelid, blend up to your socket and lower lash line with a clean brush using circular motions. Apply two coats of mascara or false eyelashes if you prefer
  4. It’s fun to make fake blood using smooth  peanut butter, corn syrup and two drops of red colouring. Mix until it looks congealed and drip it around your mouth or if you don’t have time apply a bold red lipstick
  5. Finally define your brows with a dark eyeshadow using short movements and dust translucent powder all over your face to matify and create longevity
  6.
    Happy Haunting! x

New Kate Moss Rimmel Lipstick Added To My Makeup Kit!

I popped into Boots today for some conditioner and having seen the new Rimmel London ad last night I couldn’t resist testing the lipsticks from Supermodel Kate Moss Rimmel London collection.

The range includes 7 shades from subtle nudes, bold reds to a deep plum, they all celebrate her 10 year partership with the brand. They are moisturising, shiny and pretty long lasting, so as a make up artist in Manchester I purchased shade 001 to add to my make up kit, result!

It can be hard to pick the right shade of lipstick depending on lightening or time limitations so go for one that is either two shades darker or lighter than your natural lip colour or as there very affordable (£5.49) and in the 3 for 2 offer you can get a couple without feeling guility and have fun experimenting!

Make Up Artists To Use Only Ethical Products By 2013

The EU ban on animal testing on make up is something that I feel very strongly about. In January last year I wrote a post after reading about a new technology, which should help put a stop to companies in the beauty industry testing their product ingredients on animals, to read the full post click here.

Vegan actress Alicia Silverstone has sent a letter to the European Union suggesting they uphold a marketing ban that was set in motion 8 years ago. As from 11 March 2013, no cosmetic product containing an ingredient that has been tested for the purposes of the Directive using animals after this date will be allowed for sale in Europe, irrespective of whether or not an alternative test is available.

As a professional make up artist in Manchester I am conscious of the ingredients that are in the products that I use on my clients and I feel proud that in the UK animal testing has not taken place on both cosmetic products (since 1997) and their ingredients (since 1998) and I hope that the ban is enforced on time.

Bridal Makeup From Noon To Midnight, 5 Quick and Easy Tips!

Wedding season is in full swing as a Bridal Make Up Artist in Manchester I’m frequently asked by brides how they can transform their flawless bridal look and adapt it for a glamorous evening look so here’s 5 quick and easy bridal make up tips

  1. Add a second coat of mascara, place the wand at the root of your lashes and use a zig zag motion to thicken and curl your lashes, concentrating on the ends for fabulous fluttery eye lashes
  2. Create drama on your eyes using a black eye shadow in the crease of your eye socket, blend outwards using circluar motions
  3. Next use a highlighter to emphasis your cheek bones, bridge of the nose and cupid’s bow
  4. Dust a translucent powder over your t-zone to take away any shine and revitalise your foundation
  5. Finally add a high shine lip plumping lip gloss

Have a girlie night in to practise and remember to create your evening bridal make up look next to good lighting! x
